INTERNATIONAL DIPLOMA OF COMMERCIAL MARINE SURVEYING

The course is delivered via self paced learning (correspondence) however, this is an industry training course that will require your dedication and commitment to finish. We believe that all students should be able to complete the diploma within 12 months of enrolment and if necessary we can provide students with a training schedule to assist them in achieving this goal.

Along with written assignments, case studies and formal knowledge tests you will be required to undertake practical survey tasks. To undertake these you will be required to organise your own access to a vessel (between 7 and 35 metres in length).

The International Diploma meets some of the requirements for marine surveyor accreditation through AMSA but they also have other conditions that you need to meet. To become AMSA accredited you will also need to provide evidence of your qualifications and experience in the categories you are applying for accreditation in as well as your PI insurance and evidence of your ability to effectively manage your business operations.

To find out more about AMSA accreditation you can download the Marine Surveyor Accreditation guidance manual here National Law - Marine Surveyors Accreditation Guidance Manual 2014 as amended in June 2018.pdf

The Diploma is best suited to current practicing marine surveyors and Maritime professionals such as Engineers, Naval Architects, and Master Mariners of all classes.  The course is also open to Shipwrights, Electricians and specialised maritime trade persons

We provide all applicants with an opportunity to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning or apply credits from other qualifications that they have acquired.

Please note that there is not a reduction in course costs for RPL – the assessment only pathway or RPL is priced at the same rate as for training and assessment. There is a reduction in costs for a direct credit transfer. A credit transfer occurs when you have completed an accredited unit that is equivalent to a unit in the Diploma Course. You will need to provide your transcript of academic results when you apply for a credit transfer.
