The course is delivered via self paced learning (correspondence) however this is an industry training course that will require your dedication and commitment to finish. We strongly encourage all students to complete the diploma within 12 months of enrolment. We provide all our students with a training schedule to assist them in achieving this goal. 

Along with written assignments, case studies and formal knowledge tests you will be required to undertake practical survey tasks and are required to have your own access to a vessel (between 7 and 35 meters in length) There is some opportunity for face to face training with a workplace assessor dependent on availability and your location.

The qualification meets some of the requirements for marine surveyor accreditation through AMSA however, to become accredited you will also need to provide evidence of your qualifications experience in the categories you are applying for accreditation in as well as your PI insurance and evidence of your ability to effectively manage your business operations.

The qualification is best suited to persons with current maritime experience and background as well as practicing marine surveyors. 

Maritime professionals such as Engineers, Naval Architects, and Master Mariners of all classes can align their work experiences and previous education to the Diploma qualification.

Shipwrights, Electricians and specialised maritime trade persons may also be eligible to undertake this course.

Please note that there is not a reduction in course costs for RPL – the assessment only pathway or RPL is priced at the same rate as for training and assessment. There is a reduction in costs for a direct credit transfer. A credit transfer occurs when you have completed an accredited unit that is equivalent to a unit in the Diploma Course. You will need to provide your transcript of academic results when you apply for a credit transfer.
