AIMS is the leading professional body representing Marine Surveyors inthe region. The Institute promotes high quality services, integrity and technical abilities for members in all disciplines of marine surveying - commercial or regulatory.

In recent years the focus of the Institute has shifted so as to engage more fully with the Maritime Industry - a fact that was recognised at the 2014 Australian Shipping Awards.

In keeping with the modernisation of the organisation, the biennial conference, is themed:
